Supercuts is a hair styling and treatment salon which first started out in the San Francisco Bay Area by Geoffrey Rappaport and Frank Emmett in 1975. The large franchise has now grown from its first location in Albany, California to over 2,400 locations in the United States, and its headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 

The concept of Supercuts was to create something between a beauty salon and a modern barber’s shop, where you can give your quality treatment on a Monday morning without setting an appointment.

About Supercuts

In 1975, two hair stylists; Geoffrey Rappaport and Frank Emmet started the hair salon franchise known as Supercuts. The concept of Supercuts was to build a modern unisex fuse of a barber’s shop and a beauty salon that works all week, without a need to set an appointment. 

In their first three years in business, they had grown to be in six other locations. By 1987, the salon had become a franchise with hundreds of locations in almost 40 states. The founders sold the company for millions of dollars to a Venture Capital Group, which managed the company for almost ten years before it was sold again to the current owners, Regis Corporation, which now runs Supercuts as one of its subsidiaries. With locations in over 45 states in the United States, this company has seen so much growth due to its years in business and its subsequent change in managerial hands.
