Introduction – Topanga Mall
Topanga Mall is a two-story shopping complex situated on Canyon Boulevard in Los Angeles between Canoga Park and Woodland Hills.
Once referred to as Topanga Plaza, California’s first-ever covered mall, opened on February 10, 1964. It was sold many times over its existence before the current owner purchased it in 1993.
Topanga Mall has over 280 operational stores and more than 150 thousand square meters of total land area.
Over 100 newly developed retailers, plus a new sizable Target, many new eateries, a “dining terrace,” an indoor carousel, and three recent parking structures were included in the mall between 2006 and 2008. The expansion cost somewhere around $330 million. The mall’s main tenants include Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Sears, Target, and Nordstrom.

About Topanga Mall
On February 10, 1964, The Topanga Mall was opened. It was California’s first-ever covered shopping complex. The main anchors were The Broadway, The May Company, and The Montgomery Ward while Nordstrom, the fourth anchor opened in April 1984.
In 1992, The May Company shop was bought over by Westfield Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary of Westfield Group. In 1993, May Centers created by May Department Stores was sold to become CenterMark Properties. Eight years after, the chain got liquidated, and as a result, Montogomery Ward was shut down. The former Wards shop was demolished the year after and a two-story target store was constructed in its place.
In 2006, the mall had two main openings. Robinsons-May rebranded as Macy’s and Target was also opened. Neiman Marcus replaced the first Nordstrom store and had its debut as the fifth anchor in 2008. Towards the end of 2011, The Disney Store, Reflection, First Cut, Dodgers’ Clubhouse, Kevin’s Jewelers, and Arden B, all started to leave.
