About Space Coast Credit Union
Space Coast Credit Union started in 1951 with seven members who were established in the form of Patrick Air Force Base Credit Union serving 28 members with resources of $372. In the present day, SCCU serves in excess of 500,000 members and has greater than $7 billion worth of resources which makes them the third largest credit institution in Florida.
They serve 29 districts and 64 branches that stretch across the east coast of Florida beginning all the way from Flagler to Miami-Dade.
In 2009, SCCU joined forces with Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union, creating SCCU’s resources to $3.2 billion, and 380,000 of its members. Prior to the merger, the disastrous advances and ventures undertaken during the financial crisis of 2007 and 2008 led to putting Eastern Financial into distress. NCUA took over Eastern Financial and transferred tasks to SCCU.
