About Dunn Brothers
The store’s first location opened in 1987, at 1569 Grand Avenue in St. Paul in the wake of the Dunn siblings driving their old Dodge van filled with their possessions to Portland, Oregon, to Minnesota seeking a suitable location for their espresso company.
They discovered a 1950s-era Probat roaster in Cincinnati, Ohio, and used it to establish the first retail store.
The second one began to open within Uptown Minneapolis in 1991 (and was at times the main location during the time that Grand Avenue was being renovated).
